US Vice President Kamala Harris has pleaded with Ghana's international creditors to assist the nation in fulfilling its debt payment obligations.

According to Madam Harris, this will help Ghana bargain successfully for the rescue it needs from the IMF. (IMF).

Ghana's economy is currently in disarray as the government approaches the IMF for a financial facility in the midst of an excruciating internal debt restructuring program.

Ken Ofori-Atta, the finance minister, had recently returned from a trip to China where he negotiated the cancellation of the country's external debt in order to receive the anticipated $3 billion in funding from the Fund.

Kamala Harris, however, supported the "engagement with the IMF" in a speech at the Jubilee House in Accra.

The Biden administration, she assured, "will continue to push for all bilateral creditors to provide meaningful debt relief for countries that need it, including Ghana."

She continued on Monday, "We must cooperate as a global society to reduce the debt load that is burdening far too many countries.

She also disclosed that the US government will spend $100 million fighting terrorism in a few coastal West African nations.
