Maximum measures have been put in place to ensure peaceful elections, so come out, and vote for development - EC to Ghanaians.

A total of 633 candidates have filed for the district assembly elections while 1,875 filed for Unit committee positions in the Oti region.

The election which had begun in a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere across the Oti region has seen lots of residents willing to vote and elect their favourite assembly members and Unit committee members for development.

Speaking to the Oti regional director of the Electoral Commission, Mr Nubu Mahama said, adequate measures have been put in place to ensure smooth and peaceful elections across the region.




According to him, the Oti region over the years since its creation has seen no election violence against anybody and is poised to maintain such a record despite the tribal clash between three tribal groups in the Nkwanta South municipality.

The Director said, military and police personnel have been deployed to all the polling stations more importantly the Nkwanta South municipality to ensure peace and order.

He assured the residents of total maximum protection and security ahead of the election, during, and after the election.

He urged all residents across the Oti region and Ghanaians to come out in their numbers to vote without any fear of being killed or harmed to foster development.

Mr Nubu in an interview with Solomon Mensah-Ahiable said the election which had started in a peaceful atmosphere will surely end in same atmosphere without any violence.


Across the region, electoral materials have arrived at the various centers on time and election processes have not been delayed before commencement.
