Interior Minister, Hon. Ambrose Dery (MP)
The Minister for Interior Hon. Ambrose Dery (MP) in consultation with the Electoral Commission of Ghana and the Ghana Police Service, has by Executive Instrument reviewed the curfew hours for Nkwanta Township in the Oti Region from the current 5 pm to 6 am to 8 pm to 6 am for Tuesday, December 19, 2023, because of the District Level Elections.
The ministry has assured residents that, the necessary measures have been put in place to safeguard lives, and properties and to foster peace before, during, and after the election.
The minister for the Interior on the advice of the Oti Regional Security Council and by the executive instruments imposed a curfew on the Nkwanta South township from 5 pm to 6 am on Tuesday 21st November 2023.
This was after a renewed clash between some three tribal groups over a piece of land.
The curfew though residents say is affecting their livelihood and business, has been enforced by the security authorities with personnel on the ground to maintain law and order.
Meanwhile, the newly reviewed curfew hours were in a press release sighted by Asaase News signed by the Minister of Interior, Hon. Ambrose Dery (MP) to that effect.
